Drip King Power · Practical Test
DKP CeramiX
Ultra 5 Review
Box cutter, mud, high pressure — what the 3K ceramic coating really achieves in practice.
In short
The DKP CeramiX Ultra 5 shows convincing results in the practical test: high scratch resistance in the box cutter test, strong dirt repellency with high-pressure cleaning — without drying — and a pronounced beading effect after 24 hours of curing, where water drops immediately roll off with the slightest movement.
The Test Video
All tests were carried out under real conditions and fully documented in the video. No post-processed results — what you see in the video is what the product delivers.
Practical Test · DKP CeramiX Ultra 5 · Scratch Test, Beading Test & Application GuideTest Conditions & Setup
The test follows a clear procedure — first, the stress tests on the already sealed surface, then the step-by-step application, and after 24 hours of curing, the final beading test.
Box Cutter Test — Scratch resistance of the sealed surface
Dirt & High Pressure — dusty and dirty vehicle, rinsing with high-pressure cleaner
Extreme load with mud and heavy dirt — renewed rinsing
Beading effect after 24h curing — water bottle directly over the sealed surface
3K system: Pre-Cleaner → Base Coat (A) → Hardener (B) — fully documented
24 hours dry — followed by final beading test
Test 1: Box Cutter Test
The box cutter test is not an everyday scenario — it is a stress test designed to show how resistant the ceramic protective structure is to mechanical impact. No coating in the world is immune to a box cutter — but the difference lies in how the surface reacts to this stress.
Ceramic sealing does not make the paint indestructible — it makes it more resistant. That is the honest claim.
High scratch resistance of the ceramic protective layer
The ceramically cross-linked protective structure shows noticeably high resistance in the box cutter test. The surface reacts with the hardness typical of highly cross-linked ceramic systems — the 3K silane-based system delivers the scratch resistance it promises.
Tests 2 & 3: Dirt, Mud & High-Pressure Cleaning
Two separate tests — first a dusty and dirty vehicle, then a significantly heavier load with mud and dirt. In both cases, the vehicle was rinsed exclusively with the high-pressure cleaner — without drying.
This is the crucial point: The vehicle was not dried. Nevertheless, it is clean after rinsing. Water drops remain on the surface — but they do not adhere. With the slightest movement, they immediately roll off completely, leaving no residue.
Clean after high-pressure cleaning — no drying necessary
The dusty and dirty vehicle is clean after rinsing with the high-pressure cleaner — without a single wipe with a cloth. Dirt and dust adhere so weakly to the hydrophobic ceramic surface that the water jet alone is enough to completely remove them.
Even with extreme contamination — clean after rinsing
Even with significantly heavier contamination with mud and coarse dirt, the sealant shows the same result: high-pressure cleaner over it, vehicle clean. No drying, no reworking. The dirt repellency of the ceramic surface is clearly visible in both tests.
Test 4: Beading Effect after 24h Curing
After a full 24 hours of curing, the beading effect shows its final form. Water is poured directly from a bottle onto the sealed surface — the test shows how the surface reacts to water.
Strong beading effect — drops roll off with the slightest movement
Water forms compact, clearly defined drops on the sealed surface. The drops do not adhere to the surface — with the slightest movement of the vehicle, they immediately roll off completely, leaving no residue. This is visible proof of a highly cross-linked ceramic protective structure with pronounced hydrophobicity.

Conclusion
The DKP CeramiX Ultra 5 delivers convincing results in all three test areas. The box cutter test demonstrates the scratch resistance of the ceramic protective structure. The high-pressure tests prove the dirt repellency under real conditions — without drying, without reworking. And the beading effect after curing is clearly pronounced: drops that do not adhere but roll off immediately with the slightest movement.
The result stands and falls with the preparation — a carefully degreased surface is the basis for each of the tests. We also show this in the video.
Frequently Asked Questions about the Test
Was the test conducted under real conditions?
Yes — all tests were documented under real conditions, without post-processed results. What is shown in the video corresponds to what the product delivers with correct application.
Why was the vehicle not dried after rinsing?
This was intentional — it is direct proof of the dirt repellency of the sealed surface. A sealed vehicle that is clean after pressure washing without drying demonstrates what a high-quality ceramic coating can achieve in everyday use.
What does it mean that the drops slide off with the slightest movement?
This is a sign of a densely cross-linked, high-quality ceramic surface. Weaker sealants hold water droplets on the surface for longer — with a well-cross-linked ceramic, the drops slide off immediately. This means fewer water spots and significantly easier vehicle care.
How long does the beading effect last?
With correct care using pH-neutral shampoo and without aggressive chemicals, the beading effect remains active throughout the entire lifespan of the sealant. Car washes with aggressive cleaners can reduce it prematurely.
