DKP Practical Test & Comparison

3 Systems.
Real test.
Real results.

Beading test, window cleaner attack, and key scratch test — all three systems tested simultaneously on the same surface.

The result in brief

All three repel water well to very well and withstand the window cleaner. After rinsing: beading effect unchanged for all three, full effectiveness. The difference becomes apparent with the key: Signature Wax leaves several light scratches, Shield 3 Pro almost holds up with 1–2 spots, CeramiX Ultra 5 shows no visible scratches.

The three systems

Three different approaches to paint protection — each with a clear profile. Here is what each system actually is:

Carnauba Wax
Signature Wax
35% Carnauba content Durability: up to 6 months 1-component system Intense mirror shine with color enhancement Non-abrasive — paint-friendly €29.99
1K Ceramic Coating
Shield 3 Pro
Silicon-based ceramic, hybrid-modified Durability: up to 3 years 1-component system Extremely smooth, slick surface Also suitable for rims €59.99
3K Ceramic Coating
CeramiX Ultra 5
3-component system based on silanes Durability: up to 5 years Pre-Cleaner + Base Coat A + Hardener B Chemically cross-linked ceramic protection High ceramic scratch resistance €79.99

Test 1 — Beading behavior

The first result is clear: all three systems repel water well to very well. Clear drop formation, distinct beading. No system fails here. The carnauba wax shows strong beading, as do the two ceramic systems.

Test 2 — Window cleaner attack

Window cleaner contains alcohols and surfactants — we spray it directly onto all three areas and let it sit.

During exposure

CeramiX Ultra 5 and Shield 3 Pro clearly repel the window cleaner. The Signature Wax also repels it — with slightly less resistance, but it holds up.

After rinsing

The beading effect has not diminished in any of the three systems. Full effectiveness for all three. The window cleaner did not permanently damage any of the systems.

Test 3 — Scratch test

Four stages: soft brush, hard brush, hard plastic brush, key. All systems pass the first three stages without visible damage. Only the key reveals the difference.

Soft brush

Hard brush
Signature Wax ✓ Shield 3 Pro ✓ Ultra 5 ✓
Hard plastic

Key
Signature Wax — several light scratches Shield 3 Pro — 1–2 spots Ultra 5 ✓ no scratches

The carnauba wax is not a ceramic coating — it is not designed for mechanical protection against a key. It delivers exactly what it was developed for: shine, beading, and up to 6 months of protection. The two ceramic systems show their advantage here due to their cross-linked protective structure.
