The background — what is CeramiX Ultra 5?
The DKP CeramiX Ultra 5 is our flagship ceramic coating — developed for a durability of up to 5 years. Not a marketing figure. A claim we have to — and want to — prove to ourselves.
Before the Ultra 5 went on sale, we developed and tested it extensively in-house. These public long-distance tests are not a first attempt — they are ongoing proof that the mass-produced version you buy in the shop delivers the same quality as everything we developed internally. We test with the product you receive — not with a special batch.
We applied the CeramiX Ultra 5 to our own vehicle nearly 3 years ago. A white Skoda Kodiaq RS that is driven daily. Not a showroom car, not a test vehicle — a real everyday car with approx. 30,000 km in nearly 3 years, car washes, long-distance driving, summer and winter.
Since then, we have carried out no refreshing, applied no new coating, and used no care products in between. The coating works — or it doesn't. That is exactly what we want to show with these tests.
2nd long-distance test — the conditions
One year after our first long-distance test, we drove the same route again — several countries, back to the Black Sea coast, approx. 6,000 km there and back. The car was subjected to above-average stress from the environment and surroundings.
At the destination, the car was sprayed off once with a high-pressure cleaner. Hardly any dirt remained afterwards — a first indication that the ceramic coating is still working and dirt cannot gain a firm hold on the surface. After the return journey, we documented the condition of the dirty, unwashed paint directly.

Beading test on dirty paint
This was the crucial question: Is the beading effect of the ceramic coating still active after nearly 3 years and approx. 30,000 km — specifically on dirty, unwashed paint directly after a 6,000 km long-distance trip?
We sprayed water onto the unwashed paint. The result: The coating reacts. Water beads formed on the dirty paint, and the beading effect was clearly recognizable. CeramiX Ultra 5 still protects the paint surface even when the paint is not clean.
After the subsequent wash, the picture improved even further — stronger water bead formation, better water run-off. After cleaning, the paint looks as if it was freshly coated.
